This is my new obession. It’s a game on the iphone called stick wars. It is really well done and is a classic flash game I used to play in the pc when I worked the long boring in the rec office. I’ll admit I actually paid for this one. Only 0.99, but so worth it! If you have an iphone, check it out. I think they have a free version, but you will get hooked and buy the full version, just warning you! Oh, and I’m using the cheats, so if you play and wonder about my scores from the screenshot… I’m a cheater.

Cross Street Live, Video & Pics
Videos and Pictures from the last Cross Street Live until fall. The cast (especially that awesome lady who plays Cammie!) did a great job, as did Michael and Nate. Great time of worship for kids and their parents. Awesome time.

Kayce’s Kitchen
Updated:
Kayce has long wanted to get rid of that large ugly portable dishwasher, and the big black microwave. Both worked, but just didn’t go. So, for her Birthday/Mother’s Day. I decided to go ahead and do it. The dishwasher invlolved getting someone to redo some of our cabinets since we didn’t have anywhere for a dishwasher to go. That’s what stressed Kayce out and the reason we hadn’t done this yet. We got a friend of our, Chad Anderson, to look at it. He did a great job. It’s not easy to make a 17inch deep cabinet into a 24inch deep cabinet. He did it very well.Â
I surprised Kayce the Saturday before mother’s day, and took her out to pick her appliances. She was surprised, which doesn’t happen much. She picked out a GE over-the-range microwave, and a Fridgadaire dishwasher. I like the dishwasher very much, it has buttons on the top of the door, so they are hidden from little fingers, and the handle on the front really makes it look nice. Well, Chad built the cabinets and did the plumbing, and I did the electrical (I got the easy part). So, if you need any home improvments, call Chad Anderson!Â
I added a couple of pictures of the painted cabinets now.

Life Pictures, Episode 1
Just some random pictures from our lives. These seem to all involve Parker. The rocks inside the gas door was pretty funny when I stopped for gas one day. It really made me laugh out loud. People looked at me weird, especially when I stopped to take a picture of my gas tank. The dandelions are a Parker specialty. He asked me one day to make a wish on one that he was about to blow, I said, “That we wouldn’t have anymore Dandelions in our yard”. He heard, “That we would have more dandelions in our yard”. So there you go. We have more dandelions.Â
Oh, what a night!
Well, according to the National Weather Service (NOAA), see maps below, we are somewhere between 5 and 8 inches above our normal rainfall for the month. Considering the month just started. That seems like alot. Anyway. I always thought it was suppossed to be April showers bring May flowers! Not May rain floods my house!! Last night, Kayce and I were up late watching the storms. About 3:00am, we started to head up stairs and Kayce noticed the floor at the base of the stairs was wet. Not only was it wet… It was saturated, sqwishy even. So, with great trepidation, I looked in the garage. Flooded.Â
After the intial, “ARG”!  We started to move things out of the flood path to the center of the garage. It wasn’t fun. The water was coming in through the hole in the wall where our water line enters the house. We have had this issue before but it a few years ago, and not this bad. The water was FLOWING in. Not a drip, not a trickle, flowing! It was running under the wall into a storage area under our stairs and then out in the finished part of the downstairs. What a mess. I’m very thankful we had our clothes in plastic containers. Everything in cardboard boxes (Kayce’s I Love Lucy memorbilia, and random books) was ruined. We managed to get all of that out of the crawl space, which had about an 1inch of water in it. And I set off to try to slow, if not stop, the leak.Â
This leak is only a problem when the ground is completely saturated, which 8-10 inches in 14 days will do. I had some plumber’s goop (silicon sealant/adhesive), and some rags at my disposal, so I got to work. I pumped the hole around the pipe full of goop, and then shoved the rags into it. The leak slowed, and after the goop had time to setup, it stopped! Hallelujah! So, we went to bed.Â
This morning, most of the water had “gone” away. I still have to mop up what’s left, and I’ve turned a fan on the crawl space to try to dry it out. Only a small patch of carpet at the base of the stairs was wet, so we may not need to replace it all. Not that we love our carpet anyway, so this would be a good excuse. Well, that was are night. Now, everyone at once… “Rain, Rain, Go Away, Come Again in JUNE!
Microsoft Windows 7 RC1
I’m so excited about tomorrow! Microsoft Window 7 Release Candidate 1 will be made available to public download and testing. AWESOME! I tried the beta version. It ran great, and even on a very old laptop with only 512MB of ram. I’m shocked at how well it ran, considering how much a hated Vista. If anyone is hesitant about Windows 7, you can go to the download page and check it out.  Below you can read the e-mail announcement from Microsoft. And be sure to follow the links tomorrow to download and test Windows 7. Or just check back here and I’ll let you know how it goes.
Windows 7 Release Candidate Announcement
Thank you very much for your help in testing the Windows 7 Beta. Your feedback is invaluable in helping make Windows 7 a high quality operating system. With your help, we have reached the next major milestone on the journey to Windows 7: the Release Candidate (RC).
– On April 30th, the RC became available to MSDN subscribers and TechNet Plus subscribers. – On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available. So you don’t need rush to make sure you get your copy. When you’re ready to download the RC, it’ll be waiting for you.
To get the RC please use one of the following links:
– Developers – IT Pros/Microsoft Partners – Tech Enthusiasts/Consumers IMPORTANT: If you are running Windows 7 Beta you’ll need to back up your data (preferably on an external device) and then do a clean install of the Windows 7 Release Candidate. After installing Windows 7, you will need to reinstall applications and restore your files. If you need help with the installation process, please see the Installation Instructions.
If you’re running Windows Vista, you can install Window 7 RC without having to back up and reinstall your programs and data. But to be on the safe side, please do backup your data before you start.
Please note: All users of the Windows 7 Release Candidate (including Windows Vista users who have upgraded to the Release Candidate) must do a clean installation of Windows 7 RTM. Please keep this is mind as you consider downloading the Release Candidate as opposed to waiting for the general availability release.
Thanks again for your help in reaching this important milestone. We hope that you will join us in testing the RC and finishing Windows 7!
Ants! Update…
Unlike MacGyver, Lieningin, and Charlton Heston… (See post from April 27th) I have found an ally in my battle with the ants, his name is AMDRO. I’ve tried alot of different ant baits, poisons, sprays, etc… This is best product I’ve found. Unlike Terro, it isn’t runny. It is more paste like, and will stick wherever you put it. I used the syringe version of Amdro. It was easy to apply right to the ants paths, so they were guaranteed to find it. I did this less than a week ago, and I’ve seen no ants inside, and the big lines of ants are gone. I catch a few on the house every so often, but it seems to have worked really well. I also took the added step of caulking wherever I caught the ants getting into the house (i.e. cracks in the brick, etc…). This probably helped alot as well, but the Amdro has apparently done the job of killing the colonies fairly well, since I’ve seen much, MUCH less activity around the yard. I’m really pleased, and thought I would share this, since I have heard from many folks that they are having trouble too. And if you didn’t the read the comments on the previous Ants posting, I cleaned with lemon 409, and the kitchen has been ant free ever since. Just for kicks I thought I really test the power of lemon, and cleaned our picnic table with it (lots of ants). It may be just from the cleaning, and not the lemon, but I’ve seen a huge difference there as well.Â
So, Caulk, Amdro, Lemon 409. That seems to do the trick.
ANTS! Update!
Is it just me, or has anyone else been overwhelmed by ant problems this spring. We’ve always had issues outside, but this year they have moved inside! I’ve been hitting them with all I’ve got. I’ve tried talking to ants, reasoning with the ants (“You have to leave… I’m not saying you have to go home, but you can’t stay here”). I’ve tried sprays at all different concentrations. I’ve tried baits. I am trying one right now that is suppossed to be best thing around. I forget the name, but if it works I’ll certainly gladly post it.
My last attempt will be to dig a trench around our house and fill it with motor oil. I think I saw that in a movie once. It seemed to work… Oh no, I’m wrong. That didn’t work. That had to set it on fire. I wonder if I need a permit for that?
UPDATE: I have decided that I am living the life of Leiningen from the Short Story, Leiningen Versus the Ants (1938). It was later turned into a movie in 1954, called The Naked Jungle. Starring who else, but Charlton Heston.  I remember watching this along time ago, but it seemed kind of like a dream, so I wasn’t sure if I made it up. I just knew the short story was called something versus the ants and that I read it in school. Also, I also found a MacGyver episode with the exact same plot line, except that Richard Dean Anderson is there to save the day, not Charlton Heston… So HA! I’m not crazy. The ants really are out to get me!
