Caught on Camera!

INTRUDER!

Caught my father-in-law coming in to our house to feed our cat. I love technology. Especially, webcams! Here’s a free tip. With the low price and fairly easy setup of today’s wireless network webcams, no one should be without a security camera or two,or three in their home. This one cost just at $100 and took minutes to setup. I have it programmed to watch our door for movement and when detected to email me a series of images. It works pretty well. I get a few false positives, but that’s better than not getting anything at all. Remember these are secured wireless IP cameras, not just wireless security cameras, which usually just plug into your tv and can be picked up by anyone driving by with an RF receiver. IP cameras work in you wireless network (hopefully, secured network) and are basically little web servers. Pretty neat, useful little gadgets for $100. Check one out if you don’t have one already.

Susong Cam is Live…

I did a ridiculous amount of code editing tonight and finally have the webcam page working the way I want it to.  I’ve managed to embed the feed directly from our wireless webcam into the page (Susong Cam – See Link in Nav Bar above). Sounds easy, but in order to get it to stream with video and not just static images, I had to get the page to load a custom viewer from the webcam into the page.  I’m not even sure exactly what I just did, but after a few long hours editing the css and creating a new page template, I’ve managed to get it running correctly.  I think…  Let me know how it works.

If you check it out today, you should be able to see all the snow on the ground in front of our house.  I’ve got it pointed towards the road.

Enjoy!

The Stay Awake Cam-Help Me!

I didn’t go to sleep last night (most because I’m an idoit) in part because I believe I have a form of OCD that makes want to complete or finish things (nothing to complicated, of course).  So, I started watching Season 1 of The Office on Netflix.  Which is pretty funny, and I’m not sure why I never started watching it. But reguardless, I was sucked in and since the first season was appearntly only 6 episodes long, I started into the second season.  Due to my self diagnoised aiglment (don’t mock me) I didn’t sleep, becuase I just couldn’t stop in the middle of a season, when there were only 24 or so episodes to watch.  That’s just lazy, right?  So, I watched all night and here I am still awake after almost 24 hours.  Enjoy watching me suffer and drink alot of coffee today.  Feel free to chime in on the chat if you see me drifting… Thanks in advance for the help at staying awake and on task! Unlike, what I’m doing right now, which is completely off task.

Watch me Work…

Or not… I’ve added back to my site, an old friend of mine. My webcam. I actually have about 5 webcams. I did at one point have them all hooked up in differents parts of our house streaming live, but that got alittle annoying as you can imagine. So, I took them down. I’ve added one camera back at my office, if for no other reason than I can. I just have a love of all things gadgety and video related gadgets are the best. I have a wireless webcam that is awesome. I love it. I am still looking for the right place to put it, but in the mean time you can watch the traffic on our street. Enjoy!
